He continues the family tradition, belonging to the fifth generation, and is the grandson of Edmundo Veyrat Colín, who did great work and is considered by authors and scholars of the time, such as Sarthou, to be one of the best park and garden designers in Spain, with work comparable to that of Rubió i Tudurí and Winthuysen.
Landscape architect with over 35 years of experience and training in sustainable urban design, territorial narrative and applied ecology, founder of Roberto Duato Strategic Landscape Architecture and expert in heritage environment intervention.
My approach combines aesthetic creativity with a strategic vision of landscape as a tool for urban, cultural and environmental regeneration, providing innovative and sustainable solutions for highly complex public and private projects. I conceive landscape from its deepest roots: identity, essence and style. I am guided by solid principles, clear concepts and precise guidelines to shape coherent, harmonious and functional environments.
My career is distinguished by the integration of teaching, research and professional practice, with direct participation and collaboration in more than 70 landmark activities and projects, the development of strategic environmental and landscape policy programmes, and extensive dissemination work through teaching and training, lectures, publications and articles on current affairs, interviews, events and exhibitions, media appearances, and proposals for creation, development and design plans, which disseminate an innovative vision of landscape identity as a tool for urban, historical, cultural and environmental regeneration.
Recognised for emblematic strategic landscape architecture projects where the landscape becomes an experience, identity and memory of the place, such as the international recognition of his design and landscape project for the Hotel Las Arenas Balneario Resort 5* GL - Valencia, at the 2009 ASLA Professional Awards of the American Society of Landscape Architects, where the jury praised its high conceptual, design and expressive excellence, describing it as a ‘Very Good and Very Thoughtful Project with Nice Images and Excellent Narrative’.
Also for innovative proposals such as the renovation of Valencia's Town Hall Square, which had a significant social, media and political impact, and the BioHotel for Sustainable and Climate-Friendly Rural Tourism in Castellón, for its integration into the landscape. Committed to excellence, I am an active member of the main professional institutions:
AEP (Spanish Association of Landscape Architects), IFLA Europe and IFLA World (International Federation of Landscape Architects), since 1993 | ASLA (American Society of Landscape Architects) (2007-2008-2009) | Professional Association of Flowers, Plants and Related Products of the Valencian Community (1992) | Cultural Association of the College of High Art of Silk of Valencia (2015).
I have shared my vision through interviews, articles and publications in prestigious media outlets such as El Mundo, La Razón, La Gaceta de los Negocios, Las Provincias, Levante-EMV, El Periódico de Catalunya and the World Federation of Rose Societies.
