As part of Valencia's designation as European Green Capital 2024, the city has received a donation of the “E. Veyrat Hermanos” rose, obtained in 1894 by the prestigious rose breeder Alexandre Bernaix of Lyon, for the Monforte Garden.

‘The Veyrats had a vocation to make landscaping a new and respectable profession in Valencia’ - F.P. Puche.

In his article El nombre de la Rosa (The Name of the Rose), Valencia journalist and chronicler F. P. Puche highlights the donation to the city of Valencia of the “E. Veyrat Hermanos” rose, a variety created to honour the memory and legacy of five generations of the Veyrat family.

The official planting ceremony was held in the Monforte Garden, one of the city's most emblematic heritage sites. The event brought together institutional representatives, landscape professionals, gardening enthusiasts and citizens in a celebration that united history, botanical culture and family memory.

The planting of the “E. Veyrat Hermanos” rose symbolises a gesture of gratitude towards the city and a living contribution to its green heritage, reinforcing the historical link between Valencia and the Veyrat family's landscaping tradition.

The presentation at Iberflora and the subsequent donation to the city of Valencia, together with the planting of the “E. Veyrat Hermanos” Rose in the Jardín de Monforte (Hort de Romero), have achieved significant international impact. This recognition was reflected in an article published in the official magazine of the World Federation of Rose Societies, By Any Other Name (No. 32, November 2025, pp. 24–27), titled “E. Veyrat Hermanos Reintroduced in Spain”, authored by Inés Díaz de Licandro, Vice President for South America of the Federation and Chair of its Conservation and Heritage Committee.

A recognition of the value of Valencia's plant heritage and the joint effort to preserve and disseminate its historical legacy.
